Entering the induction at LCF on Thursday 1st October 2015, was a nerve-racking but exciting experience. I hadn’t met any other students in my halls studying Fashion Buying and Merchandising so I was completely oblivious to the sort of people I would be studying with. There were many questions going through my head; How would the other students be feeling? What would a lecture be like? Would the tutors be nice?
When I arrived at the High Holborn building I was greeted and directed by a member of staff, giving me the impression from the start I was joining a friendly and welcoming department. After signing in and heading to the lecture theatre I quickly became aware that we were all in the same situation. Meeting a few of the other students on my course made many of my personal worries and concerns disappear.
Entering the lecture theatre for the first time was a new and exciting experience. I was very interested to find out more about the course and to meet the course team. The introduction talk was really well organised, it gave me the right amount of information about what to expect from the course, about LCF and how to get help from all the areas. The question and answer session was really good. I enjoyed working with new people, getting to know them and making new friends. Being able to ask the panel questions worked well as many of the questions were very similar to my own so being able to hear all the answers was helpful. In the second half of the day we participated in group activities. We headed out to London to complete the various challenges we had to do. This was a good way getting to know more of the students on our course as well as getting to know London.
On Friday 2nd October our second day of induction we meet our course leaders. The course leaders were all very experienced in the industry and were all engaging speakers. They talked us through the course, I found this really useful and interesting as it is good to know what to expect and how we will be marked. Learning about the course and meeting the tutors made me really excited to start the lectures properly.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the induction days, meeting new people, learning about all the facilities LCF has to offer and finding out in depth what the course included. I am now excited to start the next 4 years as a student at LCF.
